Bridging Healthcare Pty Ltd is operated by Dr Chris Helms, PhD RN MSN(NP) ANP-BC FACNP. He is a Registered Nurse and Endorsed Nurse Practitioner (NP) working in private practice. He received his formal training as an Adult and Geriatric (Aged Care) NP from the University of Wisconsin, based in the United States. He has worked in diverse healthcare settings, ranging from rural primary healthcare to subspecialty practice in a quaternary referral centre. He immigrated to Australia in 2007 and has since served on several national and international committees vested in the advancement of the Australian NP profession. His interests include:

Chris completed his PhD in Nursing in 2018 at Australian Catholic University. His research was embedded into a larger project, called the CLLEVER2 study, which established and validated a specialty clinical learning and teaching framework for Australian NP students. His contributions include:
  • Validation of a broad specialty NP taxonomy (called metaspecialties) across the Australian NP profession
  • Validation of NP clinical practice standards across the NP metaspecialties
  • Identification of factors which contribute to group consensus when using a modified Delphi technique
